England, 1817. Ex-soldier Melmoth Brien returns to his ancestral home in the ancient Greenwood, intending to retrieve his family’s valuables and get the hell out of there. When he’s beaten to it by Scarlet, a young woodsman turned thief, Brien overpowers him and ties him up, demanding he help get the family fortune back by leading him deep into the forest. The flash of sexual fire between them is undeniable, but a force more powerful than rivalry or lust is ratcheting up the tension.

Brien’s family are Protectors of the Greenwood, a responsibility he has discarded like every other in his life. To Scarlet, whose very life-force is bound to the Greenwood, this makes Brien a traitor. He would use anything, even his body, to drive him away. After all, a traitor may stir the fouler Spirits, who will demand blood. And Scarlet knows he is marked for sacrifice…

Lured ever deeper into a realm of ritualized sex and magic, bondage and blood, the fighting gives way to rampant lovemaking, but Scarlet needs more than just sex to survive. Can Brien admit his identity as a Protector and bind his underling forever, or will the Greenwood Spirits enslave them both?

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: BDSM theme and elements, dubious consent, male/male sexual practices, ritualistic sexual practices, ritualistic impalement, sex in partly shifted tree form, violence, voyeurism.

And so the story begins…

I’ve just got back from a great week in York with Chris and my parents, where I received some rather good news. Loose Id will be publishing my first book, ‘Bound for the Forest’, which is currently due to be released as an e-book in September.

Naturally, I’m very excited (if a little knackered right now, following a five hour car journey back to my parents’ house in Kent – hence the dryness of this post, I guess ;) ) I have already signed and posted my contract, having found a very cool Internet Cafe called ‘Evil Eye’, where I printed it out. I then signed it in the beautiful peaceful interior of St Martin Le Tours, under a golden boss of The Green Man – those of you who have read ‘Bound’ will know that this was rather appropriate ;)

I still can’t quite believe it’s going to happen. I always had a good feeling about this story and loved it more than anything that I’ve ever written in my life, but was braced for a long wait before any successful publication. In the event, however, a lovely editor at Loose Id. got back to me asking for the complete manuscript only 6 hours after an acknowledgement email came through telling me to expect a 6 to 8 week wait!! It’s a very different experience from my attempt to write a het romance for Mills and Boon last year. But I’m still grateful that I wrote and sent that book, because I learnt a hell of lot from it, not least those old adages: write what you want to read, and write what you love…
